Tibet's history dates back 2000 years. For the most part of its history, Tibet was isolated and maintained it's culture, language, and religion. After the Communist Chinese took control over mainland China in 1949, its People's Liberation Army (PLA) invaded Tibet, brutally murdered thousands of Tibetan monks and forced the Tibetan government to sign unfair treaties. The PRC has unlawfully invaded Tibet for over 50 years. Along the way, the Chinese have violated human rights and introduced serious environmental hazards including nuclear waste.
